This work is a historical representation, depicting the invading army here: two boats at Aspeberget.

The shape of the larger boat indicates that it was made in the Early Bronze Age.

The bull can also be dated to the beginning of the period.

While: fascinatingly, the small boat was made at the end of the Bronze Age, perhaps a thousand years after the birth of the big boat. It's a long tradition!

Scholars have argued that the bull was introduced as a symbol of rock art in Scandinavia following impulses from the eastern Mediterranean, where the bull was an established ritual feature (see original: last photo).

LocationTanums kommun, Sweden The Tanum rock carvings are located on the west coast of Sweden, approximately equidistant from Oslo and Gothenburg, about 150 kilometres north of Gothenburg in the historical province of Bohuslän. They are among the most famous rock carvings in Sweden. The site has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1994.
