I present to you this representation of the bird from the 11th century which comes to us from the ruins of the Jumièges Abbey in France.
This 11th century capital, which I was able to see with my own eyes, has retained its original ochre color. It is enclosed in a Gothic pillar from the 13th century.
.
On May 24, 841, the Vikings set fire to the Carolingian monastery before returning and pillaging it. Faced with the Scandinavian threat, the monks went into exile, taking with them the most precious relics and manuscripts, repeating the exclamation already uttered: From the fury of the Normans, deliver us Lord! And abandoned the abbey.
