This work is a historical representation
representing warriors.
In the foreground we have three warriors armed with axes and swords. They also carry round shields decorated with concentric circles and a cross.
The warriors stand on either side of the line of cut marks: one on the left and two on the right. Perhaps the line (the dots) is a boundary, and what we are witnessing is a battle on that boundary.
Real-life bronze shields from this period have the same decorations. It is not known how effective they were in combat, since they are made from bronze sheets with a thickness of no more than 0.3-0.5 mm.
They were probably more useful as a symbol of power than for actual protection on the battlefield.
